Catherine's Story
What Happened?
Our early needs were fairly simple and routine. The choppy waters came last year when we had to navigate prolonged bullying, a search for a new school, and the confirmation that both of our children have Crohn’s disease.
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Dr. Senders was there for us……. He recognized a condition that was rapidly deteriorating. He interceded to make other appointments and procedures happen quickly. He met with us when we were trying to decide upon treatment choices and partnered with other specialists to render well-coordinated care. He called us after-hours and didn’t rest until we were on the way to being okay again.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
Looking back to 2009, I am especially grateful for those “extra” qualifications. And I am grateful to call Shelly Senders our pediatrician.
Happy mother of three's Story

The Senders Pediatrics Experience
During my 18-month old's well visit, Dr. Senders noticed something that was a little concerning about her eyes. He thought we should have it checked out and recommended a pediatric ophthalmologist. My baby turned out to have a slight astigmatism which should turn out just fine. But it was what the ophthalmologist said afterwards that was so impressive. I asked when I should have my 4 and 5 year olds see an eye doctor and the response was, “As long as you keep on seeing the doctors at Senders Pediatrics for your well visits, and they say that everything is fine, there is no need to bring them in. That was confirmation enough for me that I was using the right pediatrician.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
When my oldest was 2 1/2 years he needed to have his adenoids removed. I was a nervous wreck. I called Dr. Senders a bunch of times before the surgery to make sure we were doing the right thing. Dr. Senders was great, he called me back every time to reassure me it was the right thing to do. After surgery I was grateful that we had gone through with the operation. My son had been suffering more than we realized.
The reason I keep on coming back to Senders Pediatric is very simple; I started with the practice 5 years ago when my oldest was born. Since then I have had nothing but the best of service from the providers I see regularly. I know when I come in with one of my children, we will be treated with respect and the children’s complaints will be taken seriously. Even when I bring another child along with a sick child, many times the provider will listen to the well child’s heart just to help them feel better.

Sinus infection
What Happened?
He was having hearing loss on his assessment test at school. He also has had migraine headaches over the past year.
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Initially Dr. Senders prescribed him fluticasone nasal spray (Flonase) but after an MRI for other reasons (hx of migraines and neurologist appointment) a sinus infection was noticed.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
Notification from the CNP about the antibiotic prescribed. Like always, very good follow-up from a staff member (MD, CNP).
Both of my children have been going to Senders Pediatrics for the past 8 years. Being in the medical field as a registered dietitian, I feel confident with all of the advice and medical services they have provided us. I know every time my children are sick they are getting thorough care by staff that is very competent. Thank you.

Bronchiolitis
What Happened?
I was visiting Cleveland from out of the country when my child began to have labored breathing and wheezing. Because of his past history, I knew he needed an aerosol, and it was my Sabbath and so my sister suggested Senders Pediatrics.
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Dr. Senders was interrupted by me during the prayer services and stepped aside to direct me to the clinic, and there Dr. Fleck administered the aerosol. He then proceeded to provide me with more medicine to hold me off till after the Sabbath since I was unable to get to a drugstore and purchase more meds. That night, my son got worse and I called Dr. Senders. He came to the party room where my family was celebrating my grandmother’s birthday and he then told me I may need to go to the hospital. But to try to avoid the need for an ER visit, he opened his office especially for me and gave my son two more aerosols. He called the hospital getting them ready to receive me and gave direct directions to the hospital along with his home number in case we needed it.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
The positive outcome was that after a two day hospitalization, my son and I were able to fly back home to Israel!
Dr. Senders seems like a very caring individual. He didn't even know me, only my father, and the care he showed me was as if I was a long standing friend. He explained everything clearly, and I had a very reassuring feeling that everything would be fine, and that we weren't in danger. Thank you very much.

The Senders Pediatrics Experience
We are consistently impressed with and thankful for the exceptional customer service and medical care provided by Senders Pediatrics. As new parents, we have called the doctors at all hours of the night and no matter how silly our questions are, we are treated with respect and concern.
The practice exceeds our expectations with things like the informative and not-invasive emails, the waiting room which is like a little hideaway for munchkins, the little things they do for the kids like writing their names on the tables, and above all, the friendly and knowledgeable points of contact throughout every visit and call. We rave about Senders Pediatrics to all of our friends and truly cannot say enough good things about the practice.

Asthma
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Noah struggles with asthma. Even though I suffer with it myself, my husband and I learned so much on how to treat our son correctly. We were never discouraged from bringing him in or calling with any questions.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
To this day we are under control with his treatment and have a wonderful personalized Asthma treatment plan that was made just for him.
Since day one I have been impressed and in awe of the thoroughness and dedication each doctor at Senders Pediatrics has.

Vision issues
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
I am thankful for the vision screening that your office does at the 2 year check-up. I had no idea he was having any problems, he never tilted his head or squinted and I never saw any signs of lazy eye. But at the screening, it was recommended that I take him to an ophthalmologist to examine him. Shortly after, we did, and he ended up needing glasses to not only see correctly, but to prevent a lazy eye from occurring. He has had glasses and patching for almost 2 years now and his eyes are improving.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
If this would have been left unnoticed as it would have been for years if not for your screening, he not only could have developed learning delays he would have most likely needed surgery on his eyes. Your cutting edge medical research and technology is remarkable.
We are more than thrilled to be in your practice and even though I hate when my children are sick or suffering, I know who I can trust. Jill Sangree, Mary Alice, Dr. Bucchieri and Dr. Senders are of our favorites, but we truly love everyone.
Alexander's Story
Age: 9 months
What Happened?
One of Dr. Senders' associates came to the hospital when our son was born for his first checkup. He was 3 weeks early, and a bit jaundiced, but otherwise a healthy 7 pound 7 ounce baby boy. I also had some trouble keeping him awake long enough to eat, and despite my efforts, he remained stubborn and just wanted to sleep.
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
The doctor gave me all the information necessary to care for Alexander at home. We didn’t have to stay at the hospital any longer than the average day and a half, which I was happy about. My husband and I couldn’t wait to take our little bundle of joy home. Within a few days, his color returned to normal and the jaundice was gone. I also had a follow up with the specialist at Senders who gave me some great pointers on breastfeeding my son at home.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
My husband and I feel like we have the happiest, healthiest baby boy. Alexander has been in to see Dr. Senders throughout the last 9 months for all of his vaccines, and checkups. Every time we go in we leave with information that helps guide us through the next stage of his life. I even got a list of reading material that he might enjoy at his 6-month checkup. I feel like his checkups are always very educational for the both of us.
The last visit we had was for the H1N1 vaccine, and I was worried when I got there and saw a waiting room full of patients. Everything was orchestrated so well, and it only took a few minutes to get in and get out. I never felt like the staff felt overwhelmed by the swell of people, everyone was always so friendly and courteous.
We are new parents, and couldn't be happier with the care Dr. Senders has provided for our son. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic pediatrician!
Cameron's Story
Age: 10 months
Chronic ear infections and RSV
What Happened?
Cough, congestion, pain, sleeplessness
The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Everyone at the office was very responsive (every time I brought him in, which was A LOT) and didn’t make me feel like an overprotective mom. Dr. Zizzy in particular went out of her way to contact the ENT’s office and helped pave the way to get us in for surgery. Dr. Zizzy has also followed up with us on her days off and has made us feel like a priority. Every provider we’ve met with has been very caring and concerned.
What makes Senders Pediatrics Different?
Cameron is feeling much better and responded almost immediately to the treatment (ear tubes). We were very nervous about the procedure, but feel we made the right decision. It helped knowing that our ENT and Dr. Zizzy were in communication about Cameron and his aftercare.
Senders Pediatrics has exceeded my expectations and I truly feel that they are there for me day or night. You never want to see your children get sick, but it does provide some comfort knowing that I have these phenomenal providers in my corner.

(Ear Infections, Fevers, Rash, etc.)
“It’s hard enough to have sick children, but when the staff and providers are so nice it makes the visit easier for the parent. The entire staff is friendly from the receptionists to the nurses and doctors. You are always greeted with a smile and I really feel that they care about us. The office is very kid-friendly, from the paintings on the walls to the giant slide. The staff always goes above and beyond and never rushes you through your visits.”
Ethan's Story

The Senders Pediatrics Experience
Dr. Senders called the family on his day off and came in to the office to see the family during their appointment.
“The service that both Drs. Senders and Mann provided us that day was outstanding. He has always been wonderful and I really appreciate him. The day that he came in to the office on his day off displayed how he goes above and beyond. No one played Superman or Superwoman that day. Both Drs. Senders and Mann gave us guidance, words of wisdom and direction. They were very professional and caring.”
