FAQ
Q. What should I hope to gain from participating in the Empowered Parenting Seminars?A. This life changing seminar series will add to your parenting toolbox and give you the skills necessary to make your parenting experience more peace filled and rewarding. The skills learned in this 6 hour series will spill over to your relationship with your spouse, with your friends and with your business colleagues. Entering our 4th year, this program has touched the lives of over a thousand individuals and with rare exception, begins to pay dividends almost immediately.
Q. How does Parent Coaching differ from the Empowered Parenting Seminars series?A. The Empowered Parenting Seminars series is a group experience. It is advisable for families engaging in Parent Coaching to familiarize themselves with the terms and techniques learned in the Empowered Parenting Seminar series. However, it is not a perquisite for Parent Coaching. Often, families find themselves in crisis (a day care is threatening suspension etc) and Parent Coaching is remarkably helpful in the acute situation. Parent Coaching can be scheduled at your convenience but provides best solutions when both parents are engaged.
Q. What can I hope to learn from the Parenting in the Trenches series?A. This is a series of interactive sessions that deal with a host of common parenting issues including: temper tantrums, potty training, adolescent angst etc. It is geared primarily to those who have completed the Empowered Parenting Seminar series but can serve as a stand alone program for parents eager to learn new techniques.
Q. What is the difference between Relaxation Coaching and Self Hypnosis?A. Relaxation Coaching is similar to Parent Coaching. It is geared to the child, rather than to the parent but is a series of individual sessions that provides the skills necessary to deal with a variety of anxiety provoking issues including: night time anxiety, fear of animals, test taking anxiety and social anxiety. Relaxation Coaching is not a substitute for the type of counseling provided by Clinical Psychologists or Clinical Social Workers. However, we have found that often, the child doesn’t need deep seated therapy but rather, needs to learn a skill that can be used for years to come in similar types of situations. Self Hypnosis similarly is a tool in a child’s toolbox that is useful for migraine headaches, bedwetting (in appropriate children, it can solve a life long problem in just 3 sessions) and tic disorders.
