Teacher Coaching
Teacher Coaching provides teachers with a resource tailored to the specific class in which they teach. Books provide teachers with many helpful resources. However, having another professional set of eyes in the class to see what the teacher sees, to watch the group dynamic as well as individual interactions can be priceless when problem solving frustrating or disruptive situations. Coach Amy Speidel has twenty years of experience in the classroom and utilizes a unique approach to discipline and the care of children that has been shown to reduce the incidence of violence in the class room, decrease the incidence of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and improve test scores.
The teacher coach observes the interactions between students, as well as between teachers and students. The coach/teacher relationship is in place to support the teacher and is confidential. Without the stress of assessment, teachers are able to present concerns and brainstorm solutions.
With insight from the coach, teachers are encouraged to find strategies that meet the needs of their particular classrooms. The strategies presented are in line with current brain research and adhere to best practice guidelines.
Our approach is that we can move through our school year believing it “shouldn’t be this way” or we can seek support that will provide us with new insights, new tools, and a better outcome for our entire class. For more information on scheduling Teacher Training sessions, please contact Amy at 216-291-9424 ext 167.
ADDITIONAL SCHOOL SUPPORTSSmall Group Coaching:Teachers may receive coaching support for their team grade. Team coaching provides a structure for internal collaboration and the pooling of resources. Coaching focuses on best practice for the age group, structures that can be developed and shared among teachers, and team building experiences for the staff.
We are better able to encourage and assist children when we are able to receive encouragement and assistance as well. What we experience for ourselves we are more likely to pass on to others.
On Site Parent Coaching:A parent coach can be available on site for parents, offering parents access to the same tools teachers are using. When teachers and parents are on the same page in the ways that they approach children in a conflict or follow through, the more likely it is that children will learn healthy ways to handle their conflicts and frustrations.
Parents are able to sign-up for a private or group session with the coach during school hours, generally right after drop-off or before pick-up. The convenience of having the coach so readily assessable makes it more likely that parents will take advantage of the opportunity. Having a coach that works with both parents and teachers creates a seamless view of how to best serve the needs of the child.
